Hello! My name is John Cornacchia, and I’m a rising junior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, pursuing a dual degree in Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering. I grew up in the small coastal town of Point Lookout, NY, and my passion for engineering began at age 14 when I joined—and later led—my high school’s robotics team.
That early hands-on experience with CAD, fabrication, and team leadership laid the foundation for my current work in aerospace and mechanical engineering. By hand, my team and I fabricated a linear elevator that earned First Place at our State Competition. Balancing leadership with designing practical, reliable solutions was challenging, but it taught me resilience, engineering fundamentals, and the value of effective delegation—skills I’ve carried throughout my academic journey.
Since then, I’ve explored a wide range of projects, from a homemade electric turbofan engine (which, admittedly, self-destructed) to a foldable electric scooter, FPV drones, and plenty of experimental builds in between.
Feel free to explore my projects, connect with me on LinkedIn, or reach out directly—I’m always excited to discuss engineering, design, and hands-on innovation.
